Holiday Shopping at the Ten Thousand Villages
The organization’s goal was to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Western Pennsylvania and Nigeria through prenatal education, advocacy, networking, all-inclusive services, and the construction of a maternity hospital (pilot project) and healthcare center in Nigeria.
One of the activities performed by the organization to create awareness and raise funds was organizing Holiday shopping events at Ten thousand villages in Pittsburgh annually.
This shopping has helped the organization to raise some money to fund yearly free medical outreach in Nigeria.
We are soliciting financial help in the USA to train Birth Doulas, lactation consultants, and other services to support women and children in Western Pennsylvania.






We also plan to conduct a training program for some community healthcare workers and Doulas in Nigeria.
ZHB has 11 board members responsible for making a financial contribution to the organization and connecting with groups or individuals who could support the organization’s mission.
Lorraine Starsky, one of our former board members, has committed to organizing the Holiday shopping with Ten Thousand Villages every year.
This nonprofit organization receives hand-crafted products from developing countries and sells them in the USA as a fair trade to profit the individuals that produce these products.
